It
is too easy to pretend the
horror of sexual violence doesn't exist in your
community. However, without a public realization, the crime of sexual
violence becomes more "normalized" and more pervasive. To commit
yourself to be a part of the solution takes a time, energy and emotion.
Here are a few
things YOU can do to get involved in this important issue:
-
Educate
yourself. Read books and magazines. Talk to Rape Crisis Board members.
Call our staff and learn the facts about your own community.
-
Volunteer! Become a Board of Directors Trustee; serve as a member of a special
events committee at the Center (such as our annual
Survivor run or awareness luncheon); look into volunteering
for our Advocacy Program; never
underestimate
how much we could use your help as an office volunteer to assist
in the day-to-day activities at the heart of our organization
-
Donate
money. We are always raising funds to maintain our important services
and
further
expand
how we serve the community. Your regular and generous financial
support is important and necessary to our mission.
-
Donate
goods and services. We are always open to worthy in-kind services
and goods.
-
Support our events. Attend
our various community events, such as Take Back the Night march
and the annual Survivor Run.
-
Speak out. Finally,
do not ever hesitate to speak out about ending sexual violence!
